Hollow Victory
by Mystic Levello

Hollow Victory

I’m walking away
even though I’m next in line
leaving the crowd, chasing the noise
of all their grand designs

‘Cause I won’t be moved
by promises and empty lore
I've been deceiving myself
about the things I’ve done
and never did before…

I’m tired of all those lies and aspirations
leading me down that road
to a broken dream…

Cause It’s a hollow victory
when your life
serves only to remind you.

That it’s a hollow victory
when all that you are is buried
and won’t come true.

Don’t ask me to say
when or where it first began
The point of the matter
and all I need to know
is can I make amends…

‘Cause I’m losing my soul
to something I don’t understand
But I'm finding my heart
in all those things I have
and always had in hand…

I’m tired of all those lies and aspirations
leading me down the road
to a broken dream…

Cause It’s a hollow victory
when your life serves only to remind you

That it’s a hollow victory
when all that you are is buried
and won’t come true…

I just had a dream
of living in some magazine
I was running away, driving myself
into that silver screen

Leaving behind that pension
and a picket fence
you know I'm battled and bruised
from living their dreams
At my expense…

I’m tired of all those lies and aspirations
leading me down that road
to a broken dream…
